One teenage youth was discovered deceased only a few days after being wrongly blamed of taking the cremated remains of a deceased baby during a break-in, a coroner's inquiry has heard.

Heartbreaking Finding

The young boy's parents discovered his remains in his bedroom at his Flintshire residence on 19 November 2021.

False Accusations Begin

The investigation heard how his mother got a message on 8 November 2021 via online platforms, from a individual inquiring if Kai was her child. The message added: "Inform him appreciation for burgling my apartment."

In a statement presented to the proceedings, the mother said the individual had been in the media, claiming her infant's remains had been stolen in a burglary - a claim which was false.

Law Enforcement Investigation

An official inquiry from authorities later determined the alleged break-in complainant had "lied to police" and "evidence shows that the property was not taken in the first place".

Media reports about the alleged taken remains attracted social media responses, and although the teenager was not identified in the posts, his mother said individuals "knew it was him".

The "online posts were extremely distressing", she stated.

Mental Health Effect

She explained that Kai had been diagnosed with moderate attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and as part of that disorder, other individuals' opinions really mattered to him.

"It would have affected him severely," she commented, "particularly when this was untrue".

The teenager was detained at home, but no evidence was found. He was transported to a law enforcement facility and later released pending further inquiry.

Police said they would be in contact, the hearing heard, but had failed to reached out to the relatives by the time of his death.

Withdrawal and Anxiety

His mother said Kai "withdrew into himself" after the arrest and "would keep asking me whether I had heard anything from the police", because his condition meant sometimes "a minute could feel like much longer".

When she spoke to him about the supposed incident, she said her son informed her he had entered the residence because the resident who lived there had said he could utilize the toilet whenever he needed, but refuted taking anything.

Digital Harassment

In a joint statement between her and her husband, the mother said her child was being bullied online after the allegations.

The proceedings learned that a 19-year-old urged the teenager to kill himself.

She had no concerns on the night before he passed away, describing how she had heard him "chuckling and joking".

She portrayed him as a "compassionate, affectionate" boy, and said her "family is completely shattered".

He had been "clearly hiding his concerns", she said, adding that he could not stand to have anybody "think bad of him".

School Response

The inquest heard from educational personnel at Connah's Quay secondary school.

On November 8th, she "overheard some students talking that the student had been arrested and that was the initial I heard".

"He informed me... he'd was innocent," she added.

After the discussion, the staff member said she called the family's parents' landline and provided a message saying she had communicated to Kai about the accusations.

The proceedings learned his parents said they did not receive that message.

Official Conclusion

Senior coroner informed the inquest he would wait for documents regarding what enhancements had been made to dealing with suspects with the condition, before deciding whether he should make a prevention of subsequent deaths report.

Providing a descriptive conclusion, he said: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsupported allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a 14-year-old child.

"Likely untruths were afterwards exaggerated and amplified through the platform of social media.

"During 11 November, he was interviewed by the police and following his questioning he was freed while investigations continued."

The coroner concluded: "Exists no evidence that the acts or failures of any agency led to or contributed to his death and although it was the outcome of a self-inflicted action it is not possible to discern his intent."
