A 71-year-old man, detained in the wake of the shooting of Charlie Kirk and subsequently let go, tried to assist the prime suspect escape by posing as the perpetrator, authorities report.

Utah County Sheriff Michael Smith stated that George Zinn confessed to authorities that he had "yelled that he was the shooter to help the actual suspect get away".
