Ricky Hatton’s son Campbell delivered an heartfelt tribute through his first public comments following his father’s death.
Expressions of sympathy flooded in around the sports world and wider society in the wake of the loss of the one-time world welterweight titleholder, who passed away at his residence recently at the age of mid-forties.
“Heartbroken isn’t how I feel,” shared his son with a collection of family photos.
“Everyone always remarked I was your twin – never a honest word said. Forever admired you in all way of life.”
He went on: “There’s no way to put into words how much I’m going to cherish the jokes we shared and every one of the good moments, which I will hold dear forever. Simply can’t accept we won’t have more together. Love you, Dad.”
Area police stated that the athletic star had been discovered on his property located in Hyde. Officials clarified that there were not any suspicious factors related to the event.
Much like his dad, Campbell also pursued a career in boxing, making his professional debut in 2021. He later stepped away from the sport not long ago.
The following day, the family of the athlete issued a message conveying that they were “profoundly touched” by the overwhelming outpouring of affection and condolences shown their way.
“Richard was not only than a sports figure. To us, he was just ‘Richard,’ our son. A loving parent, grandad, and sibling, and a genuine confidant to numerous people,” the message stated.
“He had a heart as large as his smile, and his generosity, humour, and loyalty touched each person lucky enough to meet him.
“To the wider world, he will forever be known as one of boxing’s top figures – a individual who dedicated everything within the bouts and displayed his emotions on his publicly.”
