Shocking Footage Reveals Instant Law Enforcement Get Knifed in Unexpected Assault
One police sergeant who rushed to the aid of a partner that was assaulted by a blade-wielder was granted the Monarch's Honor for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown after he held a blade to the throat of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the law enforcement personnel and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist subsequent to a road collision in Whalley Range in mid-2023.
Brown knifed and cut both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.
"Policeman stabbed," the officer was heard to say over his radio.
Officer-mounted and vehicle camera video made public by the police department revealed Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, approach to Sgt Foster from the rear with a knife outstretched.
He collided with the officer who tripped and fell to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the pavement although being multiple times hit with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a safe opportunity, bringing the struggle to an end.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "I need something on my neck here, I got knifed in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell suffered multiple deep cuts to his neck and more cuts to his limbs and torso, whereas Sergeant Foster suffered knife wounds.
Authorities stated Sgt Foster used his bare hands to stop his fellow officer's bleeding prior to medical personnel arrived.
The latest honor arrives subsequent to the three officers were granted departmental Valor Recognitions in fall 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the area union branch in early 2024.
They were also awarded a Area Bravery Award in summer 2024.
"The responses of all three officers ultimately saved each other and meant no civilians suffered any harm."
Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, per the department.
